The Story

Why We Created BFOC

Talent deserves a platform.

The Beauty Face-Off Competition (BFOC) was created to give emerging makeup artists an opportunity to demonstrate their skills, creativity and individuality before a live audience and the wider beauty industry.

Beyond competition, BFOC is about visibility, recognition, confidence and access to opportunity.

Timeline

From One Edition to Sixteen

The Beauty Face-Off Competition (BFOC) began in June 2024 as a talent-development initiative of The MakeUp Fair Series.

Since then, BFOC has grown rapidly, delivering 16 editions in approximately two years and creating repeated opportunities for emerging makeup artists to compete, showcase their creativity, gain visibility and connect with the wider beauty industry.

Each edition has continued to build on the same purpose: discovering talent, creating visibility and opening doors to opportunity.

The 16th edition of the Beauty Face-Off Competition (BFOC) took place during the 19th Lagos Makeup Fair Summer Edition in August 2026.

10 makeup artists were selected from 40 applications to compete.

Each artist interpreted the theme “Summer in Lagos” within a 45-minute live competition.
